previously on we diy hey everybody i'mremington welcome to a dollar tree diy today i'm gonna share this farmhouserustic wall mirror art piece and i'll show you two different and super easydiys for the inside so to help build a frame i'm using three dollar treecanvases start by gluing the first two pieces together and for easy cleanupplace some wax paper underneath once the glue is dry i flipped it over and placethe large popsicle stick on the seam just trim as needed and then glue themin place once fully dry moved to the last sectionadd the glue let it dry a little bit and carefully flip it over and a place thelarge popsicle stick on the backside
so at this point everything is dry andholding together nicely now we can start building the frame forthe foundation i'm using cat scratch boards is basically cardboard i startedby laying them out making sure each piece was flat with the canvas and it'sa perfect fit then i measured and trimmed each piece so the frame would beone and a half inch thick and to cut it i use scissors and an x-acto nowworking section by section i laid out the one and a half inch piece thenmarked it and trimmed as needed and as you can see i have hang over on bothsides that's a little less than one and a half inches i also mark it so i canline it up later and then i cut the
other pieces okay so the top and bottomis done now let's move to the sides keeping the top part lined up i measuredand trimmed another piece to fit the side and i did the same thing for the otherside next place wax paper underneath and start gluing the first two piecestogether and add one large popsicle at the top popsicle stick at the top onceit's fully dry move to the next section line it up add your glue let it dry alittle bit and then flip it over and don't forget to add the popsicle stickfor more support then once the section is fully dry flipit over and keep on going until the
frame is done next i use small popsicle sticks tocreate my signature planking design i hope you guys are taking my wordslightly when i say my design because i just copied the look of hardwoodflooring and i used the smaller sticks because it's a perfect fit compared tothe larger ones anyways i'm just staggering them like i've done manytimes before in my diys but today i have a little trick for youa time-saving trick super-long popsicle sticks with the ends already cut off i foundthese on amazon one day and they're a huge lifesaver especially if you do alot of wood crafting and they're the
same size as a small popsicle stick justlonger so i poured them out and i start gluing them down in a staggered designjust like i've done before in this video and this one so to begin i'm lining upthe pieces trimming as needed then i glue them down and if you have hangmake sure to trim that part as well a nice and even cut so this part righthere is definitely time consuming but it's worth it so just play some music oryou can always watch my other youtube videos while you're crafting the top part is finally done and i wasable to fit five rows with a little bit of hang over for the inner oneand right here on the side i'm lining
them up just to make sure i can fit fiverows then i just laid out my design and glued them down later now for the otherside i had to do a little improvising because only four rows would fit i guesssomebody didn't measure properly but no worries i'm gonna show you how i fixedit and i think this flaw adds seriouscharacter to the frame you'll see what i'm talking about later when it'spainted so i took one of the sticks and i placed it under the frame i flipped itover added glue and you're done it's not level with the other ones but ilove it how it looks to cover the sides i use the larger popsicle sticks with the ends cutoff glue them down and trim as needed
just like for the other ones next give everything a nice spray paintand add some on the inside as well to cover up the cardboard now this solidcolor is cool but i need some age and charm so i chopped up the edges of thisbrush so the ends were nice and frayed and after about five minutes they looklike this then i dip the brush in white paint tapped it off and lightly brushedit on the frame and i moved in the direction of the wood going light insome spots and heavier in other areas and if i put too much in one spot i drybrushed it to fade it out a little bit and here's that flawed side doesn't itadd character i mean it looks like it
belongs there all right so for theinside part flip it over and add the canvas and to keep the inside in place icame up with a temporary solution and it works really well glue down the popsiclesticks like i'm showing you here and if you don't want to swap out the insidepart you can glue it directly to the cardboard subscribe alright so here'sthe first look not too bad but wait until you see the second one it's myfavorite i came up with this one on accident iglue three dollar tree mirrors together i laid down the two sides first andplace the last one in the center and i held it together using duct tape nowthis stuff is very strong so i didn't
