so, let's start painting our lion in. now,for our lion, i'm going to use three main colors. first off, i'm going to have moreof a medium yellow which is going to be the color of our coat and then i'm also goingto have more of a matte brown which is going to be the color of the mane. lastly, i'm goingto have a slightly darker more intense yellow which i'm going to use for outlining someof the fur around the outside where it might need a little bit of shadow or demarcationsso it looks more three dimensional. so, let's get to it. alright, i have my brush on standbyhere. i have my paint and we're going to simply start painting in here just like you normallywould in the middle, in the middle. i'm going to be using this brush. as i get towards theoutside, you're going to go down smaller.
as you get towards the edging, you're goingto go down even smaller yet and yes you may even go smaller than that if you really wantto have a super fine sharp edge line. that's really all that is to it. now, as you getcloser to the edges, you may actually find yourself having to go over and do a coupleof coats because we want to have this on thick. see like right now even like right in here, see how that's really thin, that's not thick enough and it's easy in the middle to kindof go like. now, there you go. there's your thick coat but it's harder to do that outtowards the edges because it's easy to go over the lines and start smudging things around.so, definitely keep in mind that you may have to do more than one coat. there's nothingwrong with that, better to take your time
and have a great mural than to rush throughit and fudge it a bit. the base color is starting to dry. we can put in some mane color actionhere. now, i actually like going for a slightly understated mane. i don't like it being superbright little more like a grayish brown actually. this is fine because i mean it's going tobe a nice little contrast cooler contrast to the warm coat we have. so, basically i'mgoing to expand this all the way up and you can see here for the edging, we're going tohave to make sure that our brush work is pretty fine to be able to get that nice slashinglook little bit more of a mangy look on our mane. refilling our paint tediously and alsogoing to a smaller brush to be able to get into the fine details. for our third color,we're going to use it again for like slightly
darker details that we want to standout atleast a little bit. so, case in point, i'm doing the nose here. see how it's a littlebit darker than a normal skin tone so it will standout not too much you know i don't wantto really be drawing a dark black nose or even a dark gray nose which maybe more biologicallyaccurate but biological accuracy is not always good for what makes interesting and pleasingmural. so, i'm going to be using this all in some other areas probably you know puttingon definitions on the mouth and couple of other shadow down here on like on the juttingon the chest in the area and as i get towards the edges again, i will switch to a even smallerbrush to be able to make sure that there no black lines showing through on our mural.
